In Cahootz’s staff are well-equipped to respond to the CPD and training needs of different kinds of front-line workers in different social, health and education settings.
The approach is open, inclusive and easily accessible to all those who attend, no matter their level of experience. The content of each programme is tailor-made to meet the host organisation’s specific needs by using imaginative and creative activities such as drama and visual art.
A Bag of Tricks is a very popular course aimed to equip teachers, care staff, community arts workers and nursing staff with a bag of drama and art activities (tricks) that they can use as part of their daily practice and can best be delivered in-house.
This CPD programme is 4 x 2hr workshops and delivered to meet the needs of the front-line staff. Sessions can be developed and extended, if necessary.
Feedback:
“I now have a really good bag of tricks to dip into when I want to offer the children a quality play time that is also supporting their learning and the ‘tricks’ allow us to talk more easily about the topic as we play.” Teaching Assistant, Oxgang Primary School
“I didn’t think it was possible for me to do anything ‘arty’ – way out of my comfort zone, but the training sessions were great fun and I didn’t mind trying out playing with puppets, soft toys ….and the kids absolutely loved making up stories and characters – so the bag of tricks for me is well named.” Nurse, Child & Family Psychiatric Unit [formerly at Yorkhill Children’s Hospital]
