Creative Citizens
Creative Citizens is our participant-led project for adults in recovery.
Participants are given the opportunity to take part in drama, art, music, film-making, and creative writing, amongst other things. The focus varies throughout the year, but we usually have an annual theatre production and exhibition that show off the talents of our Creative Citizens to the public.
Creative Citizens offers a Creative Programme which includes activities such as drama, music, art, short film-making and creative writing.
Among many other things, our participants have taken part in performances, a cabaret show, creating a film resource in collaboration with the Scottish Recovery Consortium, creative writing workshops, mounting exhibitions, singing and voice tuition, and regular visits to arts and culture events in Scotland. Alongside our Personal Development Award.
Our participants have often had experience of homelessness, poor mental health, and involvement with the criminal justice system. Creative Citizens promotes inclusive citizenship and gives people the opportunity to build confidence and skills through creativity.
Creative Citizens is currently funded by The Corra Foundation, The National Lottery, The Hugh Fraser Foundation, JHT Charitable Trust, King Charles III Charitable Fund, and Trades House of Glasgow.
