A programme of drama workshops was delivered to adult male prisoners at HMP Addiewell. These workshops were designed to challenge attitudes to violence and violent crime as well as to develop literacy. The participants volunteered to take part in the programme and 14 participants took part during the two six-week blocks.

The main outcome was that all participants actively engaged with the workshops and, as a result, explored their own attitudes and feelings on how their behaviour impacted on other people’s lives.

Feedback:

“I wasn’t sure about doing the drama but by the finish the games made a bit of sense…. made me think more about myself and what I was doing.”

“…. the team games were good fun but seeing myself in role play….not so good…it’s made me think twice about what I’d done to other folk.”
